Time kills _____.

Updated: Aug 29, 2023

We just wrapped our first episode of our new show, True North's Revival Radio & the conversation was so moving, it inspired this letter.

Our guest was MT music legend & the artist behind our show's theme music, Mr. Luke Dowler .

The theme surrounding the entire convo was - Taking Action.

Since the show won't debut till fall, I couldn't wait to share some of the knowledge nuggets I took away.

Read on!

We only get one lap, make it count.

Growing up, music was everywhere. In the truck, the house, the shop, you name it.

So... naturally, like most kids growing up in the 80's/90's, I wanted to be a rock star.

Well, Luke Dowler decided to make that dream a reality. MT born, but raised overseas as a military son, he picked up his first guitar at 17 & never looked back.

His only regret? Not doing it sooner.

Nobody wishes they DIDN'T go to the gym that day OR that they spent TOO much time with loved ones, yet so many of us kick the can on our dreams until it's too late.

Why is it we can make time to show up early to pursue someone else's dream, but can't find the hours to invest in our own?

The thing about time is it's the one resource we can't make more of & when it's gone, it's gone.

Taking Action.

Luke listened to enough music growing up that he knew that was his purpose & he was going to fulfill it. A line from the episode that I absolutely LOVE....

"You can't sail a boat you haven't built yet."

You can't fail until you've tried. You either win or learn but you won't know the taste of either until you've given it a shot.

Supporting 3 kids (his oldest off to college next year), a mortgage on a BEAUTIFUL place (you'll see for yourself when the show debuts this fall) as well as the cost of survival, isn't always easy as a professional artist.

That being said, he's made it work & his message to anybody out there too "scared" to give their True North a shot...

"If I can make it as a musician, chances you can make it as a consultant if you really want it."

The biggest risk in pursuing your True North path is not taking action & regretting it long after the time to do so has passed.

Our True North Collective, a peer to peer, bi-weekly collective designed for those of us that want to earn/create additional streams of income, work for ourselves, OR simply just do entrepreneurship better was created to help those still reading this... take action.

From motivation & inspiration to expert coaching & advisement, our Collective was designed to celebrate & educate those who are called for more.

Luke's dedication to his dream has allowed him for the past 20 years to live out his passion & purpose.... "If he can do it as a musician, why can't you do it as a _____?"
